A few weeks ago in Te Maunga we did art. We are learning about the water cycle so for the art we had to draw the steps on our piece of paper of how it starts and it keeps going round and round in circles. We used colouring pencils, white paper and a plain pencil. In the water cycle I learnt that it has lots of steps and it has 4 stages in the process of the water cycle. The water cycle starts by the sun heating up the water causing water vapour going up into clouds as water droplets the droplets move into each other creating bigger droplets when they are big enough they fall on a mountain travelling to a river, lake or sea.
I am a year 6 Learner at Paihia School in Paihia, New Zealand. I am in Te Ngahere and my teachers are Whaea Chrissy and Whaea Becks.

Hand Washing DLO
In Te Maunga we have been learning about how to wash your hands. We had to make a DLO about washing your hands. You have to wash your hands properly to get all the germs and viruses off. We also did an experiment and we put milk in a bowl with black pepper and then we put soap on our finger and put it on the milk and it spread out and it looked so cool.

Action World
Yesterday the seniors went to Action World. We walked to Action World. When we got there we went over to this tent and this lady Carol told us the rules then she asked if there was anyone who hasn't been here before. There was a trapeze, water slide, mini cars, obstacle course and lots more. I liked everything there but if I had to choose I would choose the trapeze.

T-Shaped Literacy
In my class Te Maunga we made a T-shaped literacy called Recycling. Also in our T-shaped literacy we were focusing on four words. These are the four words recycle, refuse, reduce and reuse. First recycling it means you recycle for example a beer bottle and then it gets sent to a recycling plant and gets made into something useful. Refuse the recycling gets thrown into the dump. For reuse you can use things you have used multiple times. For reduce you have to cut right back on what you have made.

How A Plant Grows
In my class Te Maunga we did an animation about how plants grow. We read books and explained the steps on how a plant grows. I did an animation about popcorn and the steps on how popcorn grows. It was hard because we had to keep putting images on and duplicating the slide. In the books we had to read them to get information out of them and then put it in our own words. I learnt that popcorn grows an interesting way.
