Fundraising

On Friday the 28th of August we did a treasure hunt. We did it with the seniors. We had to look for these little things that had gumboots on the front of them and a number on the back. We could win rose gold headphones, $5 dollars, chicken and chips voucher from the Four Square, eskimo pies, a soccer ball, a handball and lollies. I won and I got an eskimo pie. We did the treasure hunt but you had to pay for it because we were actually fundraising for I Am Hope (a charity).

Maths Week

In Te Maunga we have been doing lots of maths. A few weeks ago it was maths week we did lots of problems. The most hard and interesting one for me was the puzzle time add up to 20. In this activity we had squares with 12, 13, 14 and  15 on the front of the squares then we had to add up to 12 on all of the sides and do that for all of the rest. I learnt in this activity that there are lots of ways to add up to those 4 numbers 12, 13, 14 and 15.

Probability

In Te Maunga we have been learning probability in maths. We did a rotation everyday of the week so we didn’t just have to do one of the activities.  I learnt in probability that you have to estimate how much you think it is or what way it is going to land.

Keep Your Self Safe

In Te Maunga we have been learning about how to keep yourself safe online. We learned that we need to make sure we don’t accept people we don’t know online. We also learned that we should not tell anyone our address because they can look it up on google or somewhere where they can get the exact address and go to your house and do something bad to your house and you. We all have to tell our parents or someone if they keep requesting access to your social media. You have to be 13 years old to have Twitter, Tik Tok, Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram.

SoundScapes

In Te Maunga we have been learning about musical instruments and at the end of the slide there is always a create  for us to do. This create was to create a soundscape using different materials around the classroom/our house. My group was Jaelyn-Marie, Anika, Jacinta-Lee and I. We used sticks cracking, whistling for the wind, fake jelly beans for the rain and rubbing a pencil on the table. I learned that people make sounds to put into movies and how to make sounds.

Dinosaurs

In Te Maunga we have been learning about dinosaurs. I learnt that carnivore is a meat eater, herbivore is a plant eater and omnivore is a meat and plant eater.  What I liked the most was when we were watching the volcano erupt.

Pepeha And Greetings

In Te Maunga we have been doing pepeha and greetings. In Pepeha and greetings I have learnt Ka kite apopo which means  see you tomorrow in Maori. My Maunga is Pouerua because I live in Northland.
